The DailyDOOH Gala Awards have been and gone! With many of the leading digital signage companies competing for the top spot in their respective categories, we were looking to add to our trophy cabinet for a fourth year in a row. We’ve worked on a lot of interesting projects in 2017, three of which were nominated for an award at this year’s event, and I am delighted to announce that we won one! You’ll have to read ahead to find out which of our nominations was successful.

Best Overall Retail Experience

TJX Europe approached Pixel in 2016 looking for a digital signage platform for their European estate to be managed centrally from the UK, working in partnership with Samsung as the hardware supplier and SCALA for the CMS. Now in 5 countries, with close to 100 stores within the digital estate from Northern Ireland to Poland, setups consist of the proven format of behind-the-cashier-desk screens along with hi-bright SOC displays in high street stores.

In addition, flagship stores in major capital cities play host to supersized LED installations, such as a 3mm pitch, 2-sided store front in Vienna and a 10-metre-high LED wall in Munich. With TK Maxx being a new brand and retail concept of discounted clothing in European markets, it was important to hit the market hard. So, we helped in delivering out-of-home creative advertising across digital billboards and displays on the high street and train stations.

Best QSR/Bar or Restaurant Deployment

Pixel have worked closely with Pret a Manger over the last year to design a unique and innovative menu board projector system; we felt that a typical digital screen solution would feel incongruous with their interior design aesthetic. After a handful of pilot store trials, the projection setup was proven an operational hit and since has become implemented into a rollout campaign across the UK, even branching out overseas to Paris, New York and Dubai!

The solution allows up to three NEC laser projectors and embedded media players, including an automated redundancy configuration to ensure maximum reliability. Projectors are installed seamlessly within the store environment, hidden within a recessed bulkhead to not be visible to customers.

And the winner is…

Best High Street of Supermarket Deployment

You may have heard of our work in the Lloyds Bank flagship store in Manchester (if not, go and read our blog on it!). If you have, then you shouldn’t be surprised to hear that it won the prestigious DailyDOOH award in this category!

With two of the most recognisable brands on the UK high street in Lloyds Bank and Halifax Bank, LBG wanted to bring a new technological focus to their impressive network of branches. Understanding the complexities of finances can be a challenge for banking customers, and any digital installation would need to impact on this area.

We used a high-quality projection behind the cashier desk which brings an exciting element to customer visit’s. On top of this, we installed some fantastic hardware including a 70” and 65” screen, a 6-screen video wall, and a window projector. Although these have successfully created a unique feel to the branch, we didn’t feel like stopping there! We thought an LED ceiling would be a great final addition, creating an ambient atmosphere for those wanting to take care of business in a more relaxed manner; not only that, it really brings the branch alive at night!

To monitor the effect our screens are having, we have utilised digital cameras combined with audience measurement software which provide detailed analysis into the impact the screens are having on customers to allow greater strategic planning.

So, there you have it! The 2017 DailyDOOH Gala was a success for Pixel, and we are proud to have been nominated for awards alongside companies who have produced some of the greatest digital signage work of the year. Congratulations to everyone who won an award, and congratulations to us!
